You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God. (ESV The Second Commandment)
I am so guilty of this! My phone never leaves my side! I'm constantly checking it, and I know I'm not the only one! What if we all put our phones away for a week and used our Bible instead! Could you imagine waking up every morning and grabbing your Bible to check for God's "Good Morning" text? And then opening it at night before saying good night? I know most of us have a time in our day when we sit down to talk with God, and to read His word. But what if we turned the tide. What if we only checked our phone at that certain time, and only talked to our friends for an hour each morning or night? For the rest of the day, we'd constantly be pulling our Bible out, and absorbing more of what God had to say! It sounds pretty hard to me! But, then I think about this: I consider God my very very very best friend, yet I talk to him less than I would any other friend. What if I was in constant communication with HIM the way I am all my other friends? What IF? For the next week, I'm going to try this! Would you do it?! Would you join me, in taking another step in our relationship with Christ, to put Him first, above all things! Even our cell phones? Lets really put forth some effort into being what we say we are! Tomorrow morning, before we touch our phones, lets see what God has to say! Let's take our Bibles with us to work, and to school, and out running errands, so that we don't miss a message from HIM! Lets be watching and listening for what God has to say, ALL DAY LONG! Let's communicate with Him how we feel at all times throughout our day, instead of texting a friend for advice!! For one week, I'm taking the challenge! And I challenge you to do the same! I can't wait to see what God does through this! God Bless You All!
